Christmas with the Olson's

We hope you
all had a wonderful Christmas and got to enjoy
the spirit of
the season with your loved ones.

This year was a quite year in terms of family. It was unfourtunate Nicole nor my brother Chris were able to make it to St. Maries. Every year my sister has been able to make it home come hell or high water but this year was different. Chris spent time with his girls Mikayla and Hanna and had a wonderful time with them. Nicole was home trying to keep herself busy. My parents didn't make it to our house Christmas morning either because the roads were the pits and I had to be to work by 2 P.M Other than that, our children had a wonderful time opening their presents left by Santa and were excited to see he had eaten all their cookies, drank his milk and gave the reindeer their apples we left.

Christmas Eve was
busy spent at the Hospital ER. Lauren was awake coughing, coughing, coughing. I had done everything I could and it was only getting worse. She couldn't talk without coughing. Chris took her to the ER and the Dr. said she had a bad ear infection. So they got home around 10:30 and we thought "good, now we can lay out the presents from Santa" WRONG. Chandler woke up and said his ear hurt. He has been coughing for about 2 months now but no other symptoms. I thought maybe he had an ear infection so I loading him up in the car knowing I had to work Christmas Day and wouldn't have time to take him to the Dr. Christmas morning. So we arrived in the ER 30 min. later with our son. They couldn't find any reason for him to be coughing for 2 months. The only thing they could come up with was that we needed a humidifier in the house running all the time. ?? That's a typical St. Maries Hospital for ya. We got home around midnight and by the time he finally fell asleep it was around 2 A.M Christmas morning. I crawled into bed and 2 min. later I heared people outside SCREAMING. I got up, looked out the window and saw I big brawl going on in the middle of the street with 8-10 people involved. Girls were screaming, men were fighting, people were taking off in their cars.....on and on. I called 911 to have them send a cop out to break up the fight before the whole neighborhood was awake and continued to watch the fight going on for another 15 min. Needless to say, I was up until 3:00 A.M and never saw a police officer come by.

I hope everyone has a very safe and happy New Year.
Try hard to reach your New Year resolutions and if you fail......
Well hell,
there is always next year!!!

Happy Holiday's to you all.

The Dreaded Daycare

Since I have gone back to work (almost a month now) I had to put our children in daycare. I mean, that's what most working parents do right?! It was a big step for me to first, find a place that I KNEW they would be safe at all times. Somewhere I thought they would be comfortable and have fun. So I talked to my girlfriend and her 2 girls have been going to the same place for over a year now. The girls love it and so does Mom. Well, since we are neighbors and our kids play together all the time I thought it would be a great idea to have the all go to the same place. When I first went to the daycare it looked really nice. They informed me that when I get there everyday at 1:30 it is nap time already for the other children. The first day they laid Lauren and Chandler down for a nap with a little fuss from him but it went pretty good. By the end of the 3rd day, he was DONE. I realized that when I first walk into the door they grab him out of my hands and say "ok, time for bed" and off they go. YA RIGHT! He was not about to go for that. Ever since, it is a heart breaking scene everyday. When I get ready to go to work I put on my work shirt and he runs. He will hide downstairs and say "I'm not going" And the tears begin. He wont stop crying until we get there and it starts all over again.
Today was one of the hardest days to leave. Chandler was clinging to my neck in a death grip, heart-breaking sob, "don't go, I wanna go with you" "put my shoes on, I'm not staying here" and the ladies looked at me and said "just go Mom"

I got in the car and thought to myself, I pay good money for him to be miserable! Doesn't make a lot of sense. But what do you do. In these times, it takes both parents working to make ends meet.

Lauren on the other hand has been in pre-school for 2 years now and knows what school routine is all about. She is always such a big girl when its time to go and most of the time she will say "I'll try very hard to take good care of my brotha" In school, Lauren is advanced in her fine motor skills like coloring (she is like her father, it must be PERFECT), using scissors, and tracing small objects on paper. One of Lauren's favorite things to do is play on the computer. She is constantly asking for us to download her a game or go to play house disney.com Its cute to see a 4 year old on the computer, having NO problems with the mouse, and typing her name in for a game she is playing. Our beautiful daughter, what a joy she is.

HAPPY FALL!
